I have to admit that I’m somewhat of a lipstick-aholic. Whether it’s a bright shade of red or a subtle pink, I think everyone looks better (and more lively) with a little color on their lips. I know a lot of women are hesitant to wear lipstick because they don’t want to feel overdone, especially for an “everyday look”. I have found that the key to wearing lipstick during the day is to keep everything else very minimal. I keep my eye makeup very simple with just a few swipes of mascara and add a little bit of highlighter under my eyes and on my cheekbones. I’m always playing around with different shades of lipstick, but the ones above are definitely my top colors I keep going back to. I also color matched each shade of lipstick in Photoshop so I could show you guys a more accurate shade of each color.

What red lipstick would you suggest for a girl with reddish undertones? I always feel like I look ruddy when I wear red lipstick but am still determined to find one that looks good on me.

Lipstick is definitely one of those things I shy away from. But I’ve always admired those who can pull it off!
This is amazing! I’m always wondering what lipstick shade you’re wearing. I’m a lipstick aholic myself. My old fave is MAC “Morange” and my newest fave is Urban Decay Lip crayon in “Candy” — you should check it out! I think you’d love it.

Great post! A pop of red always brightens an otherwise dull day. My favorite right now is MAC “ruby woo” My only complaint is that it feathers around the edges of my lips, not a good look if you are fair skinned!

Totally agree with you on lipstick being wearable to the workplace, etc. and as an everyday look. The trick is to find the right colour. I’m currently wearing a berry colour in the office, and it looks very professional and not over the top at all.

Beautiful lip colors, Julia! Just wondering — do you put any gloss on top of those colors or anything as a base on your lips? I live in New Jersey and in the dead of winter, my lips aren’t always the most moisturized! Your lipstick looks very glossy so I was just wondering if that is the nature of the products you reviewed, or if you layer products. Love your posts!

I have a question! I feel like when I wear lipstick you can see all the lines in my lips, they rarely go on smoothly. Do you use a primer or anything? I LOVE lipstick but it doesn’t look as lovely on my lips as it does on yours. And they aren’t chapped. Anything I should do to prep my lips before wearing a bright hue?
