Black Lace Dress

Black Lace Dress

Free People Dress, Sam Edelman Booties, Linea Pelle Belt, Chanel Bag, Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in “Petal”

I’ve always been drawn to romantic pieces, things that are flowy, ultra feminine and especially lace. Free People is always a favorite destination for these airy, bohemian looks that I don’t get to wear enough with our cool SF weather. I made sure to pack all of mine for our Santa Barbara trip a few weekends ago, since I knew the weather and atmosphere would be perfect for them. I wore this lace black dress for dinner one evening at The Lark and kept it more casual with my Sam Edelman booties. On our way over, we stopped by the beautiful rose garden in front of the Old Mission- a perfect place for a sunset shoot.

  1. Julia,

I have to say that I like your style and this dress is really pretty. I also like that you have written posts about loving yourself (for all women) and acceptance. Therefore, I have to ask, why do you photoshop your legs? You are very pretty and it is quite evident in pictures so I don’t see how this sends out the right message to girls, younger and older, who read your blog every day. It is just something to think about.

    1. Hi Sara,

First off, thank you for my reading my site. Second, I have NEVER photoshopped my legs. EVER. I don’t even use photoshop to edit, I use lightroom and only adjust the color of my images. This is my body and I’m proud of it. I’m a little confused as why you would think this…? You also need to remember that these are just photos and can vary due to angles, etc.

      1. Hi again, Julia.

Thank you for responding. Reason I think this is because I work in a media design firm where we do marketing materials/edits for magazines and photoshop is one of our specialties. While I can understand adjusting the lighting, as many people do for pictures, there discrepancies in the shape show that they are photoshopped. If that’s how you like to do things, great for you, but I think you also shouldn’t preach to young girls that you are proud of your body and accept it when really you use software to change it. Not meant to be taken as a mean or rude post, I just think it’s worth thinking about.

  2. Hi Julia,
Love your blog! I just bought these booties and I was wondering, do you wear a thin sock or footie with these or no sock at all? They are such a snug fit and short around your ankle that even a short sock would show. Thanks so much! xoxo Jacque
