It’s the little things that I look forward to coming home- getting back into a routine, grabbing coffee at my favorite neighborhood spots, cuddling up on our couch to watch movies, etc. Since Thomas and I both work from home, I make an effort to get out of the house in the morning, if not for an early am workout, then for a coffee/quick breakfast run. We’re lucky to live right next to a street that’s home to some of my favorite spots, like Le Marais or Seed & Salt, so they’re usually my go-to.
I know it sounds silly, but for me, it’s not as much about “needing” coffee as it is about the atmosphere and ambiance around it in the morning. I love the ritual and the smells around the activity. Don’t get me wrong, there are days when I’m flying through espresso shots, but usually it’s just the idea of coffee that I love, not the actual coffee. T and I walked down to Le Marais yesterday and picked up almond milk lattes and croissants before heading back to edit photos all morning.
This striped cotton dress from Topshop is my new version of jeans and tee for Spring. I know I’ll be pairing it with Converse or even the sneakers I wore here, but after looking at old photos from one of my favorite movies, The Secret Garden, I was inspired by Mary Lennox’s relaxed and messy hair bows to recreate something similar. It then felt appropriate to pair it with something more feminine, like my scalloped Chloe ballet flats and add a belt to make the dress more fitted to my frame. Sometimes all you need is just a quick boost of inspiration (and a jolt of caffeine) to get your day off to a great start…unless you spill coffee down your dress right after like I did.
