At the beginning of January we took an extended weekend trip to Palm Springs (seen here, here and here) and Joshua Tree with our friends. It was my second time to the desert and Thomas’s first, so we made sure to fit in as much as we could for the two nights we were there. I had previously mentioned that I would be sharing more details of some of our favorite activities, restaurants and hotels, so I’ve mixed those in today’s post. We haven’t been everywhere, but based on what we’ve been able to try, I thought it would help those of you out who are currently trying to plan a trip to Palm Springs.

Where to stay:

The Parker Palm Springs– This was at the top of my list and we did our first night here. My favorite thing about The Parker is that there is so much to do on the property- pools, hammocks, the lemonade stand, croquet, bocce ball, a spa, bikes and more. See more in this post.

Korakia– This one really stands out amongst the rest of the mid century modern hotels. It has a ton of character, you can read more about our stay in this post.

The Avalon– I’ve visited The Avalon on both of my trips to Palm Springs, but only for the restaurant. It’s on the top of my list for our next trip.

L’Horizon– Again, I have not had the opportunity to stay here yet, but the property is beautiful. We had brunch at the restaurant and couldn’t resist snapping away (Bottom left photo) of the exquisite design.

Where to eat:

King’s Highway– So good we ate here twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner.

Norma’s– The best brunch spot, especially the french toast.

Chi Chi at The Avalon– A great spot for lunch (and they have some lighter, heathy options which are nice in the heat).

So.Pa– We stopped here for breakfast when we first arrived in the morning. (see below photo) We got a mix of the pancakes and omelettes.

To me, Palm Springs is a place to have a bit of fun with fashion. Extra color and bold prints, please. I actually wore this Rebecca Taylor fringe vest on the plane ride over (paired with a striped tee and skinny jeans) but threw it over this jumpsuit with these booties since the temperatures weren’t as “warm” as we were hoping. Thomas kept calling me his sheep dog and my girlfriend made me shimmy way too many times, but I seriously love this piece. It’s just a whole lot of fun. We grabbed the bikes at The Parker and rode around the nearby neighborhoods, which is the best way to see PS.

If you’re currently planning a spring getaway, Palm Springs or somewhere else warm, I thought I would share my go-to packing list for a quick weekend trip. I always bring at least one, usually two, dresses that can be worn during the day or in the evening. I love this lavender lace one and this cutout white lace one– both under $150. One blouse/top and a light sweater can be worn with skirts, shorts, jeans or over dresses. I usually travel in denim and either bring an extra skirt/shorts or a pair of white jeans along with one pair of flats one pair of heels. And don’t forget to pack your swimsuit because this is one thing I always leave behind! All of the pieces are from Bloomingdale’s 100 exclusive pieces they did with designers ranging from Sandro to Parker to Vince. You can shop all of them here.
