It feels like spring only just begun, but we’re now a little over a month away from the first day of summer! We’re in NYC right now and this is the first time we’ve been here all year where we don’t need a jacket or coat outside- the sun is shining, the parks are in bloom and it makes me have a whole new love for the city. Back home, we’ve already had our spring weather for a while, and now the humidity is starting to trickle in slowly. We’ve been spending so much time outside, on our porch or just trying to get walks in or bike rides around the neighborhood before the heat pushes us indoors. Which brings to me to dressing for this kind of weather. I get asked so often on what to pack when visiting Charleston, and I always recommend bringing a few summer dresses, sandals and some heels for dinner. But one item I lived in last year just as much as all of my favorite dresses, was my denim skirt.

I love dressing up (i.e. wearing dresses all the time). I just prefer a dress or a skirt over pants or shorts. I think that’s why I like wearing a denim skirt so much. It feels like the girlier alternative to jeans. It stills feels informal and casual, without sacrificing needing to change into pants. I hadn’t worn a denim skirt in years, but bought one last year and ended up wearing it all summer long. I have my blue denim one, along with a white denim one that are both equally versatile and easy to style. Sometimes I just wear mine with a white tee and some cute flats for an extra simple laid back look, other times I added a dressier top, some fun earrings and wedges for a more dressed-up look to go out at night. If you’re looking for the perfect denim skirt to add to your wardrobe this season, I found a good mix of options at Nordstrom (from a variety of different price points) like this Topshop one that’s only $55, this white one, this scalloped hem one, this blush one and this slightly darker one that’s under $100.
