Twisted Ponytail

This ponytail is one of the simplest, quickest hair-dos and appears a lot more complicated than it actually is. My mom used to do my hair like this when I was little and I have been doing it ever since.

Steps:

  1. Put your hair into a low ponytail and secure it.
  2. Create a gap in the middle of your hair right above the hair tie.
  3. Flip your ponytail toward your head and push it through the gap. Pull it out and tighten.

Let’s Talk Primer…

To tell you the truth, I never really understood the purpose or reason for using a primer before applying my makeup. I’ve read countless articles, watched youtube videos and listened to makeup professionals all rave and rant about using primers. I figured what I was doing worked and I really didn’t need to try anything else out. When Smashbox sent me a box filled with all of their different types of primers, I figured this was the perfect time to give it a try.

You guys, I’m sold! I never knew that it would make such a dramatic difference in the way my makeup lays on my face and stays on all day! Sometimes I do my makeup, leave the house, look in the mirror three hours later and it’s as if all my makeup blew off my face! Since using the Smashbox primers, my makeup now goes on evenly and stays in place all day long. Smashbox has nine different primers that are for every skin type. Not only do they feel like silk gliding onto your face, they are all oil free and won’t irritate your skin. I tested each one to figure out my favorites and to teach you guys the difference between them.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Classic: This is the first primer from Smashbox and the perfect first primer to try out if you’re not sure which one is for you.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Light: This primer is ideal for oily, acne-prone or sensitive skin.

Smashbox Photo Finish, SPF 15: This primer reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you are super sun-concious, this is the one for you!

Color Correcting Series:

Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Blend- This primer counteracts brown spots and helps color correct and even out your skin tone.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Adjust: This primer reduces redness and corrects blotchy skin tone.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Balance- This primer helps brighten up dull skin.

These are my three favorite primers that I used.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Dark Spot Correcting- This primer reduces dark spots, diminishes acne marks and improves radiance. I like to use it under my eyes to help with my dark circles. It also had made a drastic impact on helping my under eye concealer stay in place throughout the day.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Hydrating- This primer helps hydrate the skin and keeps makeup looking fresher, longer. I tend to have really dry skin, so this helps keep my face looking dewing and hydrated.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Luminizing: This primer adds luminosity while filling in fine lines and pores. I love the way it leaves my skin glowing and sets the perfect undertone for my makeup. Now that you are educated on all of the primers that Smashbox has to offer, which one will you be using?

This post is brought to you by Smashbox Cosmetics.

Daily Skin Care Routine

DDF Salicylic Wash
Clarisonic Mia
Decléor Harmonie Moisturizer
Decléor Hydra Floral Eye Cream
Latisse

One thing my mom always taught me growing up was to take really good care of my skin. I have always made time and saved up my money for good skin care products. I know that there are a lot of great products (and more affordable ones) out there, but these are the products that have stuck out against all the rest.

The DDF Salicylic face wash has improved my skin tremendously. I have yet to break out since I started using it! Most of the time I use a product, think it’s working and then it’s almost as if my skin becomes immune to it and breaks out again. Not this one.

I am now a loyal user to this face wash and recommend it to everyone I know. Although the DDF face wash works wonders, it really dries out my skin.  I have always had dry skin, so it made it even worse. (but hey, I’ll take dry skin over a breakout any day) I am a huge fan of moisturizing. I moisturized my face and neck at least twice a day (once in the morning, once at night).  The Decléor Harmonie Moisturizer is by far my favorite moisturizer. I have used products that make my skin burn, make my skin oily, make me break out, etc. This moisturizer is really gentile, light and gets the job done.  I also use Decléor’s Hydra Floral Eye Cream. I am really prone to getting dark circle and under eye bags. I dab this eye cream on in the morning and can feel and see the difference once I do! The last part of my skin care routine is using Latisse. I know this does not really have anything to do with skin, but it’s part of my routine. I always get asked questions about my eyelashes. No, I don’t wear fake ones.  Latisse has drastically increased both the length and thickness of my lashes. I used it for about 5 months and then stopped because my lashes became too long. Even though many people said that my lashes would go back to normal, they  have stayed long and full. It’s definitely worth the investment.

One part of my skin care routine that is not a product, is my Clarisonic.  My girlfriends kept telling me about how they were using a Clarisonic and it really helped improve their skin. I’m not very good at exfoliating or using masks, so I thought that this would be an easy way to get everything done all at once and still keep using the products I love and that work for me.

*I have bought and used all of the products on my own. This is my own opinion and I am not paid to promote any of these brands/products.
