Living Room Decor

Pottery Barn “Brooklyn” Couch in Washed/Linen Cotton in Ivory, West Elm Rug, Target Bench, Black & White Pillow, Leopard Pillow, Mint Julip Cups (used as vase), Crate & Barrel Tray (old, similar here), Serena & Lily Candlesticks, Serena & Lily Embellished Pillow

With the start of the new year, we decided to do a little living room update. I posted our inspiration board here and we’ve pretty much stuck to everything we had initially liked- which never happens. I’m usually so indecisive about things, which leads to months (even years) of waiting to figure out if it’s right. The first major purchase was our couch. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful hand-me-down couch from my husband’s parents for the first year, but it was time to pick our own. We loved the style of the Brooklyn Sofa from Pottery Barn and spent a few weeks going back and forth on the fabric before we ordered it. I couldn’t be happier with the results! We also updated our rug right away from this striped Dash & Albert to this West Elm chevron jute rug. While I loved the Dash & Albert one, our new one hides way more (yay for less vacuuming!) and is super durable.

Here are a few other living room decor pieces I’m loving…

Neutral Home Decor

Faux Deer Head , Chandelier, Mirror, Leopard Pillow, Black and White Pillow, Side Table, Couch, Jute Rug, Leather Ottoman, Animal Coasters, Vintage Chairs, Faux Fur Throws, Pillow, Tufted BenchMirror

My husband and I have been in our apartment for a little over a year now and while we absolutely love it, there are a few things that we’ve been wanting to change. I’ve decided to move most of the ultra feminine and pink things into my office and make our living room more neutral with masculine touches. We decided on the color palette of white, cream, grey, black and camel. Most of the big pieces of furniture in our living room are white, so it’s easy to change the space with a few accessories and accents. We’re looking at updating our hand-me-down grey couch to this ivory one from Pottery Barn- after looking at hundreds of couches online and in stores, we finally found one we both liked! I also really love the idea of this leather ottoman from Serena and Lily to replace our coffee table and maybe a jute rug instead of our striped one. I’m also obsessed with these vintage chairs from Layla Grayce and have been searching for a similar pair at more budget friendly price point. Let me know if you’ve been anything online!

Here are some of my favorite pieces that are serious contenders for our new neutral space…

Holiday Home

I was so excited when Serena & Lily asked me to be a part of their holiday promotion, where they had five bloggers choose different parts of their home to decorate for the holidays (using their favorite Serena & Lily items). I knew I didn’t want to go the traditional route of greens and reds, but wanted the space to still feel festive and go with the rest of our decor. I love how adding a few gold accents- through the pillows, candlesticks, ornaments and throw- add a feel of celebration to our cozy living room.

The best part is that you can head on over to Serena & Lily’s Facebook page to vote for your favorite holiday look for your chance to win a $1000 gift card to Serena & Lily! The contest will run until 12/22 where they will pick one random person to win the shopping spree. Good luck and don’t forget to check out Serena & Lily’s whole holiday collection here!
