Being in New York at this time of year is so inspiring. I feel like I’m soaking up as much as I can- learning, growing, exploring through each experience. I feel so grateful to even be at fashion week and play somewhat of a small part in it, showing the trip through my eyes for you all. I can’t wait to share all of the images from the past few days and many more throughout the week. I’ve actually never been to NYC other than for fashion week, which is pretty crazy because I absolutely love this city! We decided to have somewhat of a low-key Sunday and spend some down time in the West Village. We had a leisurely brunch and walked back to our hotel, wandering through cobblestoned streets and peaking into cute boutiques. I wore this polka dot off the shoulder dress from ASOS (under $55!) that I ordered right before our trip and loved that I could wear flats with it all day- my feet were thanking me.
Thomas and I arrived to NYC last Thursday morning via red eye and have been all over the city ever since. We couldn’t check into our room when we first arrived (at 6am) so we resorted to getting ready in the hotel gym bathroom- so glamorous! You gotta do what works ;) The energy in New York is just electric and I think that’s what has been keeping us going regardless of the time difference. The people, the style, the buildings, the food…I just love it all. I wore this amazing coastal printed Carven skirt for the first day of NYFW shows paired with a silk Everlane blouse. I think my favorite part about it is the beautiful mix of colors that’s such a fresh palette for fall.
I’m getting warm just looking at these pictures while I type away here in the NYC heat. My suitcase is filled with summer dresses and even shorts, but that’s San Francisco weather for you, always fall-like. One item in my closet that I could not live without is a grey tee. I wear it to bed, with jean shorts (like here), midi skirts, trousers, dress it up, dress it down- you name it! I finally found two tees that I rotate- this v neck and this oversized crew neck. I always get asked what some of my wardrobe basics are and this post has a few of them: leather jacket, worn in tee, lightweight trousers and black pumps. I don’t wear trousers that often, but if I do, I usually opt for a leather jacket over a blazer to make it less professional and more casual.
