Simple Summer Shorts

While we were in LA we stayed with our friends Aimee and Wes, who took us out to Malibu on Saturday. We spent most of the day at Malibu Cafe/Calamigos Ranch, where we had a long leisurely brunch, explored the property and did a little paddle boating on the lake. The property is so gorgeous and relaxing, we all were on the verge of taking a tap after we ate! With the temperatures in the 90s while we were in town, I made sure to pack these Jen’s Pirate Booty shorts since they’re super lightweight and easy to slip on for summer. I don’t wear shorts all the much in San Francisco, but these pair perfectly with a sweater as they do with a slinky tank.

Here are a few other summer shorts I’m loving…

CH Carolina Herrera

CH Carolina Herrera Dress, Bag & Heels c/o

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the new CH Carolina Herrera store in San Francisco hosted by the designer herself and Joe Zee. I went in a few days before and met with the sweet team to pick out my look for the event. This navy blue and black floral dress ended up being my favorite, although I have to admit it was a tough decision because there were so many beautiful options. As we headed out of town later that day, we took a little detour as the sun was setting to shoot my look. It was sunny, windy and so serene and peaceful on an empty road in the middle of nowhere. I love how the yellows and blues in the setting pair perfectly with colors in my dress and bag.

If you’re in the city, you should definitely stop by the new store on Grant & Geary. Here are a few other Carolina Herrera looks I love…

ASOS Floral Maxi Dress

ASOS Dress, Chloe Flats, ”Julia” necklace (old, simliar here), Sarah Chloe Bangle, Anthropologie “Love” Cuff (old, similar here), Samantha Wills BangleAll The Wire Ring, Celine Bag, Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in “Petal”

This past weekend we drove down to LA for a few days to visit friends and fit in a few meetings. It’s not that often that we get to head down South, so we really made the most out of our trip. I knew it was going to be extra hot, so I brought a few light dresses and shorts, which ended up being perfect as the temperatures dropped slightly through the weekend. I’ve been wearing a lot of maxi skirts and dresses lately as my knee heels up and to cover my bandages until I can take them off. ASOS always has the best selection of affordable spring dresses and I love the romantic feel of this one. The front slit makes it move in really beautiful ways as you walk and the lower neckline makes it feel more youthful.

You can shop my look and other floral maxi dresses that I love here…
