I picked up these Otte signature pieces when I went into their West Village boutique while I was in New York. I’de been a fan of their online site for a while and was excited to finally visit one of their stores. When the designer who designs the Otte Signature collection suggested that I try on this dress, I was blown away how flattering and beautiful it was on my body. On the hanger, it didn’t look like much. It was a shape and cut that I usually pass right by without thinking twice, but I’m glad he suggested it to me. I get so comfortable with the cuts and fits that I know work for my body (which is great, because I know that they will always work) but it’s nice to try something new and find a new style that freshens up your style.
On another note, I’m really looking forward to this weekend for multiple reasons- I’m seeing my family later this evening, brunch with friends on Saturday morning and the Oscars on Sunday. We don’t throw a big Oscars party or anything, but I have been known to throw on some lipstick while in my pjs and buy lots of candy! Do you guys have any fun plans?

Even though I describe my style as very feminine, it’s not always that practical to wear dresses or skirts with heels everyday…especially living in San Francisco. There is always a slight chill and the hills make walking in anything but flats nearly impossible. My everyday work attire usually incorporates some sort of denim with flats or comfortable pumps and remains very similar on the weekends as well. When we have free time, Thomas and I love to be outdoors- whether it’s walking around our neighborhood or heading to the beach. So, being comfortable is always key and he does not feel pity for me if I insist on wearing heels and then have blisters covering my feel from the hills. And trust me, I’ve learned my lesson by now.
Lately, with my style, my quote has been “less is more”. Not less clothes, but less clutter. I’m drawn to more simple, classic looks. Some basic pieces like a white button up, a classic dark wash skinny jean or a denim jacket end up being the most worn items in my closet for this reason. Here I’m wearing Old Navy’s “Diva” skinny jeans in “rinse” and their denim jacket in “dark worn”. Honestly, these are the first jeans that I haven’t had to get hemmed in years! The fit is spot on and I love a dark wash because they are so much more versatile. I’m also clearly having a polka dot shoe moment, but that’s beside the point..

My blogger pal Shauna from Penny Chic just launched a dress collection and Jacey, Sydne, Samantha, Gracie and I are debuting each little black dress on our blogs today. Each dress is uniquely different, but they are all a steal at $20! I’m wearing the skater dress, that’s a fit and flare with lace detailing on the sleeves. Since my style is so feminine, it was the perfect fit. Congrats to Shauna for such an amazing collection!
Check out all of the dress on these other gorgeous girls: Jacey in the classic dress, Sydne in the peplum dress, Samantha in the curvy dress and Grasie in the utility dress.
