While my favorite thing to wear is a dress, second runner-up is a skirt. I do wear jeans and slacks often, especially as the weather turns cooler, but skirts are so much more interesting. Not to mention, comfortable and versatile. I can create multiple looks with just one skirt, simply by switching-out my top, jacket and/or shoe style. Best of all, this season brings a great selection of skirts in all different lengths, fabrics and patterns. Which means you’ll be see me wearing skirts much more in the coming months. Below I’m sharing my 3 favorite skirt lengths this season:

Mini
The mini sometimes gets a bad wrap because the name implies that the skirt should be very short. In truth, there are actually several variations of the mini, from micro to mid thigh. For fall, style a straight mini with a slightly chunky sweater, or opt for a button down or silk blouse and blazer or jacket. Finish the look with a pair of flats, loafers, booties or boots. As the weather turns cold, add a pair of tights and/or taller boots and pair with a longer warm coat when outdoors.

Knee Length
Probably the most flattering style for any body type, a knee length skirt, looks great styled with any shoe. I like to wear mine with mules or loafers. This is my preferred outfit when I’m going for a casual weekend style, but want to get away from wearing my jeans.

Midi
I really love the sophisticated and polished look of a midi skirt, especially over a pair of boots. The latest wool and leather designs in deep rich autumn shades are some of my favorite and a perfect choice to keep legs extra warm. I can see myself wearing one with a fitted cashmere pull-over and suede boots. Hint: when pairing boots with a midi leather skirt, suede looks better than leather, which is just a bit too matchy-matchy. A full circle midi is a beautiful option for the holidays paired with pumps or heels.

Let me know which skirt style you’ll be wearing this season!
