Jumping ahead of my Maui posts today and bringing a little dose of fall to the blog. It is September now, after all. Yesterday felt like summer in SF, but the days before were crisp and cool, making it feel like the start of autumn. With leaves falling on the ground and flowers starting to fade, it seems like nature likes to think so, too. This means it’s time to pack away our little summer dresses and bring our darker shades, denim and coats and get ready for all that the season brings. It’s my favorite time of year, and I know I may be jumping the gun here, but I just can’t wait for all the fall activities. We’re doing the New England drive to see all the fall foliage and I can hardly wait!
I’ve been getting so many emails lately about my favorite fall items. And let me just start by saying this: focus on what you might be missing in your closet and work from there. Updating your classics is always a good place to begin. Maybe your favorite boyfriend jeans are a little too worn down, or your go-to black pumps are on their last kick or maybe you’re still searching for that perfect fall coat. For me, I’ve been looking for a great pair of boyfriend jeans that actually fit my waist, have a bit of distress and are relaxed without being baggy. It seems like every time I find a pair, they’re either falling off me or I’m confused as to why they’re called ‘boyfriend’ jeans when they look like skinny jeans (at least on me). But low and behold, I found these Paige jeans at Nordstrom that checked all of my boxes. I didn’t even have to get them hemmed! Nordstrom has always been my number one place for denim, since they carry all of my favorite styles, like Frame, AG and J Brand and they’re just now getting tons of new fall styles, a few other favorites being these, these and these.
One trend I’m actually pretty into right now is velvet. There is so much velvet coming out this fall and I love the luxe and rich texture it brings to any outfit. This black and white top by Alice + Olivia has the sweetest velvet bow, which plays beautifully against the dainty lace. I love the contrast of the two!
Last, but not least, is this amazing faux leopard coat by Alice + Olivia. I had an old leopard coat that got a little too worn down (plus it was always a little big on me), so it ended up in my donate pile when I was cleaning out my coats. Leopard will forever be timeless and classic and a coat like this will be in my closet for many years to come. I wish I could wear this every single day- it’s just an instant mood booster.
Thank you to Nordstrom and Shopstyle for sponsoring this post.
