While in London a few weeks ago, our friends took us out to a spot they knew we would love, Petersham Nurseries in Richmond Park. A secret garden tucked away and that’s much bigger than it appears. A truly beautiful spot that’s a combination of dream garden/home store and a cafe/bakery. We had late lunch reservations and walked into the most beautiful greenhouse room that made us feel like we were transported out of London and into a bougainvillea filled Southern destination.

We were kicking off the weekend and celebrated with a glass of champagne while we looked over the farm fresh Italian menu. The smell of fresh jasmine soaked through the warm air and the chatter of the Friday crowd was buzzing. I kept looking around, mesmerized by how beautiful and enchanting the space was. I think I told Thomas at least ten time, “I want to live here!”. After deciding we were going to get one of all the vegetable appetizers, we sat back and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon.

After our lunch we took a stroll around the shop, which keeps going and going…trailing from indoor to outdoor to indoor again. Filled with a mix of antiques and specially sourced goods from all over the world, the store is truly special. You can take a peek over on their website shop to get just a small glimpse of some of the goods they have. I fell in love with the work of Felicity Jones, who presses real flowers and botanicals into her pottery. We ended up buying a few things for our house, both big and small, that I can’t wait to arrive!

From the home decor shop, you’ll walk through an outdoor garden filled with just about every plant and herb you can imagine, followed by a sea of roses. You’ll find yourself next up at the garden shop that’s a sanctuary for all gardening lovers, like Thomas. A mix of everything from seeds to essential tools, beautiful plant stands and baby buds, you can find just about anything you’ll ever need for your garden in this space.

And right next to the Garden Shop is the Tea Room, an all glass building in the middle of the garden where guests can sit and have afternoon tea. I’d like to spend every afternoon there. After a minimum of at least 3 hours, we finally left, but only because the place was closing for the day. I would have gladly stayed for at least a couple more hours. When I got home and was telling a friend about this place, she told me that her brother had his rehearsal dinner at Petersham and showed me pictures of the beautiful evening. Now I just need a reason to plan a party…
