As I mentioned previously, my sister lived in Seville for a year when she studied abroad. Naturally she was the first person I went to for recommendations. First on her list was the Real Alcázar, a royal palace set in the heart of Seville that is on almost everyone’s recommended list. And for good reason, the palace is a masterpiece. The amount of tile work is mesmerizing. In the previous post, we visited Casa de Pilatos which also had an impressive display of tiles. We couldn’t get enough! The gardens are also immense, it’s easy to get lost in them but a nice reroute away from the crowds. But do make sure to try and buy your tickets in advance online, something we wanted to do but we had decided too late and could have only got a ticket for the afternoon. We arrived right at opening and luckily only had to wait about 20 minutes.
The Esme dress from the June GMG Collection launch is one of my absolute favorites and has become a customer favorite too. We are nearly sold out on GMG but Nordstrom has more sizes available. While it’s too late to order to have in time, the Esme is such a great 4th of July dress without screaming “4th of July”- it’s what I’m wearing today!
When we travel, we mostly avoid main tourist attractions, but when we’re visiting somewhere new, there are often a list of places that we just don’t want to miss. We’ve always found it best to go first thing in the morning, even sunrise, to beat the crowds. There are so many perks to this other than not having to wait in lines or having a million people in your photos- if you’re traveling in the summer months, it’s often cooler in the morning, it makes your day feel longer by getting a head start and you don’t feel as bad about lingering or taking your time (I hate feeling like I have to rush through something, especially when traveling).
Having woken up early to make the opening time of the Real Alcazar, we were in hungry and in need of a coffee after our tour. We walked around the quiet streets until we came upon this little cafe in a courtyard and saw churros and espresso on someone’s table. Count us in! We ordered a round for ourselves along with a Spanish tortilla to kick off our day.
