If I try to choose my favorite things from my closet, the pieces that come to mind first are the ones that are classic and elegant, but also comfortable. I realized a long time ago that no matter how stunning a pair of heels is, I’m simply not going to end up wearing them if they give me blisters five minutes into the evening. Clothing that is beautiful enough to inspire you season after season, but that also makes you feel as good as you look, can be hard to track down, but finding those “unicorn” pieces is always worth the search.

When it comes to wardrobe staples that strike the perfect balance between comfortable and elegant, I like to consider fabric first. I’ve grown much more in-tune with the fabrics I wear since I started designing the Gal Meets Glam Collection, and I find so much inspiration from the textures and details of different types. This outfit is a prime example of fabric playing a starring role–the cashmere and silk feel like a dream together, and they turn a classic sweater and pants combination into an evening-ready look. When I’m not in dresses, feminine pants have been my favorite thing to wear lately, so I know this luxurious silk pair by Helmut Lang is going to be one of my go-to pieces over the coming months.

Another thing I know I’ll wear again and again through fall and into winter is this cozy Khaite sweater. I usually think of crimson as a holiday color, but the bold hue has somehow felt just right for these lingering days between summer and fall too. I added a swipe of Bobbi Brown lipstick in “Parisian Red” and slipped into my new go-to nude pumps (last seen here) to take this outfit from daytime to date night in a flash. These heels are surprisingly comfortable, and feel effortlessly glamorous paired with pants.
