Earlier this month, we drove to New England in search of beautiful foliage (check!) and cooler temperatures. What began as a quick fall getaway quickly became a trip I think everyone should add to their travel bucket lists–we had the most wonderful time soaking in the charming towns and breathtaking scenery in the height of autumn. One of the first items I packed for the trip was this olive green Burberry military coat, which I’ve been looking forward to wearing since I first spotted it at Saks Fifth Avenue. I excitedly pulled it out of my suitcase for a day we spent exploring Rockport, Maine.
Every year, I stock up on cashmere turtlenecks in neutral colors so I can wear them with anything in my closet. The softness, warmth, and light weight of cashmere make for the best layering pieces! I chose this one in the “coffee espresso” color and wore it with one of my favorite corduroy minis in the perfect shade of caramel. The combination, paired with my Burberry coat, was perfect for this brisk day–even though the air temperature wasn’t too low, it certainly dropped as we ventured closer to the ocean. We didn’t mind the chill at all; it felt so crisp and rejuvenating after our long, hot summer! In pursuit of an authentic Maine experience, we enjoyed lobster rolls from Graffam Bros Seafood as a late lunch, and then headed to Marshall Point Lighthouse in time for sunset. (Pro tip: Google Maps will tell you that the lighthouse closes at 4 P.M., but that’s just the museum–we took a chance going later, but it was still accessible.) These Vince boots kept my legs warm as we wandered along the beautiful, rocky coastline and watched the sun go down.
