Without a doubt, cream sweaters are one of my most beloved wardrobe staples. I’ve amassed quite a collection, but I reliably wear each one throughout the fall and winter months and never get bored of them. Since I have a handful to choose from, it takes a particularly special sweater to make me want to wear it all the time, but ever since I bought it, that is exactly what has happened with this cashmere cable knit turtleneck.
For years, Theory has been one of my favorite places to find simple sweaters and other classic wardrobe staples. Some of my Theory sweaters have been in my closet for years–they hold up beautifully, and the styles are so timeless, I literally wear them season after season. To highlight just how versatile they can be, I paired my turtleneck with my favorite Theory leather pants and a bucket bag, and then styled this “base” in three distinct ways.
Even though we live in the age of services like Amazon Prime and Instacart, making it easy to check off all of my to-dos without leaving my desk, there’s something to be said for shopping in person–feeling fabrics between my fingers, weighing an item in my hand, taking a whiff of a candle or fresh produce, and overall noting how something makes me feel before I purchase it. This aspect of running errands feels especially important during the holidays when I’m hoping to create a special experience for visitors (as well as for our own family), so when time permits, I love picking up holiday decor, shopping for gifts, and buying my groceries in person. For a day spent running around town, I layered an oversized cashmere cardigan over my sweater and paired it with burgundy sneakers. Downtown Charleston is very walkable, and this cozy look meant I could spend hours browsing my favorite boutiques and shops all around town.
For a day spent in and out of meetings, a chic black coat (now on sale) and a cashmere scarf added extra polish to my comfy outfit. Both of these items fall solidly into the timeless and classic style category that I’m forever drawn to–I’ve been reaching for them again and again as the weather has cooled. Whether I had my outerwear layers on or off, this look felt perfectly appropriate at the office, at business meetings, and at the coffee shop where I stopped for an almond milk latte to refuel in the middle of a busy day. Leopard loafers made the perfect finishing touch–after all, they’re what inspired me to wear camel, cream, and black together in one outfit. The natural world holds the best styling inspiration if you keep your eyes open to it.
This time of year, it seems as though no more than a few days go by without some sort of party or holiday event, and I love it! To take this outfit from daytime to a fun dinner out with my mom, I changed into heeled booties and slipped on the most gorgeous burgundy shearling jacket. I couldn’t keep from smiling when my mom complimented my outfit–little does she know, I’ve been scrolling through Theory’s gift guides in search of the perfect Christmas present for her! They rounded up so many beautiful ideas in the Gifts for Her guide (like this relaxed pullover and these cashmere pants – which I’m currently lounging in as I type!), but I personally beelined to the Cashmere guide in search of a luxuriously soft staple she can wear all winter long. This cashmere sweater comes in so many pretty colors, and is exactly the type of gift I’d love to treat her to. Theory also curated guides to Gifts for Him, Luxe Gifts, and Gifts Under $275, so there’s a little something for everyone on your list this season.
Thank you to Theory and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.
