I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding this January and I am not sure what to wear for the rehearsal dinner. It will be indoors and “dressy casual,” so I don’t need anything too formal. Any suggestions for some affordable options? – Whitney M.

Nothing keeps post-holiday blues away like a big event on the calendar in January! I prefer to err on the dressy side for special occasions, but rounded up a few styles below that are formal enough to show your appreciation for the occasion, but casual enough so that you’ll feel comfortable in any setting. My top Gal Meets Glam Collection picks for the rehearsal, which range from $150-240, are below. Have a wonderful time celebrating your friend’s wedding weekend!

I would love to know your current favorite playlists on Spotify. Anytime you guys post an Instagram Story with music in the background, I always love whatever you’re listening to! – Kaylyn S.

Our favorite genre of music is jazz, so that’s often what you’ll find us listening to. In fact, one of our favorite things about living in NYC part-time is how much live jazz we’ve been able to find all around the city! A few Spotify playlists we enjoy listening to at home or in the office include Coffee Table Jazz, Piano in the Background, State of Jazz, This is Leon Bridges, and Diaspora Radio, (a Spotfiy radio station created from the song “Diaspora” by Christian Scott).

My daughter is getting married in January and I am looking for the perfect piece of outerwear to complement my formal, floor-length gown. What do you recommend? – Melissa S.

Congratulations to your daughter! Two of my favorite outerwear styles to pair with floor-length evening gowns are wool wrap coats and faux fur jackets. The former is the more traditional choice. I recommend opting for a style that falls to a midi length and has minimal embellishments, especially if your dress or jewelry are more ornate, for an unfailingly elegant overall look. This pink Max Mara coat (seen here) is one of my favorites, but for more subtle options, Cuyana makes beautiful wrap coats. I also love this lavender one, this smokey gray one, and this dusty rose one. On the other hand, a faux fur jacket will bring a touch of old school Hollywood glamour to your look, which is an aesthetic I’m always drawn to for formal occasions. This cream faux fur jacket is lovely, and I can personally recommend this Vince one–I recently wore it for a night out in New England (seen here). Of course, you could also opt for the best of both worlds with a wrap coat featuring a fur collar! I have this one (seen here) and also love this one.
