The first dress we ever designed was the Edith. I’d been dreaming of this dress for over three years, so you can imagine the emotion I felt when I saw the first sample of it in NYC last year. I actually burst into tears. Our team still says it was one of their favorite moments, because it was so special, real and raw. All of our hard work was worth something, and that something was beautiful. So how did this dress come about? Whenever I’ve been asked “what’s the one thing that you’d live in for the rest of your life?”, I would respond “a crepe midi dress with a really full skirt”. So when it came to creating the collection, this dress was really important to me. Originally the Julia dress, we switched the name to Edith when Nordstrom selected it as an exclusive style (which was such a honor), but they weren’t using our dress names at the time (which changed right after launch when they saw that our customers were looking for our dresses by name on their site!). I still wanted to be able to have a dress named after me on the Collection site, so then my next favorite silhouette became Julia (sort of a similar style but in a print– we have it coming in solid colors next spring!).

We initially had the Edith dress available in pink mauve and navy. Both colors quickly sold out and the style became one of our best sellers. The simple, feminine body is true representation of our brand and it truly touches me that so many women connected with the style as well. This past fall, we launched it in a textured printed version and also have a beautiful jacquard version arriving this Friday when our holiday collection launches. Most recently though, we restocked the navy color (since it’s so versatile and really, a year round staple) along with bringing it out in black for the first time. Without a doubt, this is my favorite little black dress and one that I will be wearing for many years to come. Effortlessly simple and forever timeless.
