Over the years I’ve written about my love of silky scarves many times, from how to select the right one, to ways to style and store them. But, nothing thrills me more than to write about the new Gal Meets Glam Mary Scarf–a scarf that is feminine and refined, soft and neutral, featuring my favorite shades of blush and just a hint of vibrant pink. The Mary Scarf may feel familiar, because the name and signature floral pattern are actually a continuation of the Gal Meets Glam Collection Mary dress.

Wearing pastels and florals in winter is something I’ve always gravitated towards as a way to brighten up my mood and day, no matter the weather outside. This monochromatic cream sweater and skirt are warm enough for the cooler weather we’ve been having here in Charleston, while still capturing the light, feminine feel I love to wear. All I needed to do to take this simple outfit up a notch was slip the Mary Scarf around my neck–it added a delicate pop of color, introduced a new texture, and of course, made me smile every time I caught a glimpse of the cherry blossom floral fabric that has inspired me from the moment I first saw it. We opted to create this scarf in a 30×30” square, as opposed to the smaller size of our GMG Logo Silk Scarf, because it opens up a handful of additional styling opportunities, this effortless drape being one of my favorites.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: silk scarves add instant elegance to any look. Along with wearing the Mary Scarf in the dressy outfit pictured here, I’ve also used it to make a casual white long-sleeve tee and jeans combination feel extra special. I have always admired classic style icons who emulated a relaxed and effortless, but still feminine and polished, style, and I’ve realized that the key to emulating that is having a few thoughtfully selected accessories on hand. The Mary Scarf has already become one of those accessories to me, and I hope it will become one for you too!
