Now that we’re home for the rest of summer, we’re getting back into our regular routine. Since it’s been so hot in Charleston, one of our favorite things to do has been to head over to Sullivan’s Island after work and catch the last bit of sunshine and cool off in the ocean. It feels particularly wonderful this time of year since floating helps alleviate the back pain I’ve been having and takes pressure off my growing belly. I love how quiet the beach is during the week and in the evenings, and I can’t think of a better spot to watch the sun set. We keep all of our beach gear in the back of our car in case we decided to take a last minute trip, and we keep in pretty minimal with navy and stripe beach essentials we’ve bought at Nordstrom.

My summer stripes have officially taken over. Since the Fourth is tomorrow, I’ll probably be bringing all of the items out to the beach with us for our day off. Since the timelessness of navy and white stripes are forever, I always gravitate towards the pattern over a bright color or fun print for items I’ll be reaching for again and again.
