Q&A Vol. 12

Reader Question

I fell in love with the pair of Prada eyeglasses that you shared in fall 2016 but they have been discontinued. Do you have any recommendations for a similar pair, or are there any other eyeglasses you’re loving? – Bethany B.

Unfortunately, Prada did discontinue the eyeglasses I wore in this post, but I’ve found many similar rounded cat-eye styles still available. Shopping for glasses is so personal, so be sure to take the time to try on pairs in person and find a style that’s perfect for your unique face shape. If you don’t have time to head to a store, I love Warby Parker—they have an excellent at-home try-on program that allows you to try out five different frames at home for free. All of Warby Parker’s glasses are under $150, so especially if you’re like me and don’t need to wear glasses all the time (or if you tend to lose them), they may be a great option. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Warby Parker glasses, as well as some other styles I have my eye on (no pun intended), like this pair from Tory Burch, below.

I am going to Europe for a few weeks in October and need a new coat, preferably one that is waterproof. Any suggestions? – Arianna E.

When I’m traveling in the fall or to a destination where the weather will vary, I always pack my Barbour Beadnell Jacket. You may have seen me in it recently when I was in Ireland for my sister’s wedding! The jacket is made of waxed cotton, which wicks water away, so it’s perfect for days with misty weather or just a chance of rain. For a fully waterproof option, this J. Crew rain jacket has an irresistibly classic look and comes in a variety of colors. I especially love the dark moss and vintage burgundy options for fall. Finally, if you need a waterproof/water-wicking style that can be dressed up easily, you can’t go wrong with a timeless trench coat. I’ve worn Burberry trench coats like this one for years, but also love this Everlane style.

Reader Question

What were some of your favorite beauty products during pregnancy? So many of my go-to products are off limits due to the ingredients and I need some new staples. – Elizabeth T.

I’ve been experimenting with more “clean” beauty brands over the last few years, so when I found out I was pregnant, switching out some of the products in my cosmetics bag was easier than I had expected. For skincare, my favorite discovery has been Biossance–I shared about their rose oil in this post and my go-to face mask in this post. Everything from the brand is plant-derived and non-toxic, so I felt confident using it throughout my pregnancy. My makeup routine grew more minimal throughout our hot Charleston summer, but a few of the brands I turned to often included Ilia, Juice Beauty, and RMS Beauty. P.S. If you’re unsure about the safety of a product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, please be sure to check with your doctor.
