Along with incorporating my favorite autumnal colors and prints into my outfits lately, I’ve also started reaching for the rich fabrics I love during this season. After spending the summer in the most lightweight linen and cotton pieces in my closet, I’m always inspired by the variety of textures available to experiment with in the fall. Velvet is one of my staples, since it makes just as elegant of a statement in small doses as it does on larger pieces. As the temperatures slowly decline, I’ll go from adding velvet hair accessories, shoes, and bags to my looks to creating full outfits inspired by velvet pants, skirts, and blazers.

Lately, I’ve been reaching for headbands multiple times each week. I’m a fan of their timeless, feminine look year-round, but I’ve been especially drawn to the polished vibe they add to fall outfits. From sleek and simple headbands, like this topaz-colored one, to more occasion-ready pieces, like this blush one studded with pearls, there are countless velvet styles to choose from, in a rainbow of hues. For even subtler touches of velvet for your hair, try these blush scrunchies or this bow barrette. If you’re looking for a way to wear fall fabrics regardless of the temperature outside, this is one of the easiest tricks.

Every time I stumble upon one of my favorite shoe styles or silhouettes reimagined in luxe velvet, I can hardly resist adding them to my collection. The fabric instantly elevates every style. I love the way I can pair them with dresses and skirts now, or style them with sweaters, pants, and coats through the months ahead. As you may have seen, we even included a perfectly pink velvet loafer in our Margaux for Gal Meets Glam Collection line. I’ve been pairing them with so many different looks and I’ve been so happy to see that our customers are enjoying the style as much as I am.

Wearing velvet on a larger scale than shoes or accessories instantly creates a romantic, almost vintage-inspired feel. Since this season is so nostalgic to begin with, velvet fits in effortlessly. I’ve had these pants in burgundy for a few years and always look forward to styling them in new ways. Whether you prefer kick crops, skinnies, or skirts, try pairing velvet bottoms with tops in silk, lace, or cable knit. See below for more of my favorite modern velvet pieces to wear throughout this season!

Velvet Loafers

Our Margaux for Gal Meets Glam Collection Loafer has quickly become one of my go-to pairs of shoes. We designed The Loafer in dusty pink velvet with a burgundy piping that seems to go with just about everything for the season—I’ve been pairing it with denim, dresses, and more.

Velvet Skirt

This orchid-hued skirt would create an elegant daytime look with a white tee or white button-up blouse and flats, or wear it in for the evening with a silk bow blouse and heels.

Velvet Blazer

I love to throw blazers over a simple tee and jeans or layer them over a dress to put a fun, tailored spin on any outfit. I can see myself reaching for this blue velvet blazer from Theory all fall and winter long.
