Since coats tend to be investment pieces, I used to stick to very neutral, solid-colored styles that I could wear with absolutely anything. A few years ago, though, I realized how much I loved the personality a patterned coat could bring to any look. I’ve been keeping that in mind as I’ve dived into designing coats for Gal Meets Glam Collection, balancing plenty of classic solids with some more playful and unique prints. One that I’ve been especially loving lately is the woodsy brown, taupe, and cream plaid of the Bronwyn coat.

I played up the coat’s warm color palette with one of my favorite cream sweaters, brown leather pants (similar to these), and tall boots. One of my favorite details of the Bronwyn is the removable faux fur detail on the collar. Making this simple switch creates a totally different look—adding the fur transitions the coat effortlessly from day to evening, as well as creates a cozier feel for the chilliest days. One of our employees, Caroline, recently wore it with the faux fur attached—you can find her Daily Look here.

To embrace a muted palette, layer this coat over cream pieces, like Celeste or Tallulah (or the Arden Sweater for a more casual occasion) and add your favorite pearls. For a bolder look that’s perfect for the holidays, pair it with the striking green of Jennifer or Georgette or the elegant plum of Cheyenne. No matter how you wear it, the coat’s pattern pulls any look together to make your outfit feel polished and thoughtful.
