We just spent a wonderful week in California, filled with the very best things in life: family, friends, beautiful settings, and plenty of sunshine. We were recently in California over the holidays, but as soon as I realized that my girlfriend’s baby shower fell the same week that our friend Rose would be in LA, I immediately booked a trip back. Spending some time in our home state in the middle of winter has become a bit of an unexpected tradition for us—one that feels even more special with Clementine in tow. She loved meeting so many of her honorary aunts and little baby friends!

Cotton Midi Dress

Even though it’s a little dressier than the shirtdress I’m wearing in this post, this ruffled midi could still be worn with sneakers or espadrilles to go from day to night.

Customizable Flats

Simple ballet flats are a classic style that pair well with just about anything. These ones from Mansur Gavriel are customizable with your initials—I opted for pink lettering to create one of my favorite color combinations (seen here).

Ruffle Blouse

Especially as the weather warms up, I reach for white blouses often. This one from Horror Vacui has gorgeous ruffles on the sleeves and collar, creating a unique, but still classic, look to pair with a skirt or jeans.

Even though our winters in Charleston are mild, I was still excited to fill my suitcase with the breezy, cotton dresses I haven’t had a chance to wear at home yet this season. I’ve admired Evi Grintela’s tailored, but undeniably feminine, shirtdresses for a while now and couldn’t resist this green floral style. The high neckline and full skirt could easily be dressed up, but I embraced a more casual look by pairing it with my current favorite sneakers and the backpack that I carry for outings with Clementine.

As we wait for the trees and flowers to bloom back home, I find myself gravitating toward rich green and crisp white hues often. Along with other romantic dresses (I also love this flowy midi, this retro-inspired floral maxi, and this ruffled shirtdress), I’ve been inspired by sneakers to wear with dresses or denim, comfy flats in the perfect hue, and accessories like this oversized white bow to nod to the spring days ahead.
