A small fact that some of you may not know about me is that I spent much of my childhood and early teens studying and dancing ballet. Nothing professional –  just local classes and productions like so many young people. I absolutely loved everything about ballet, from the graceful moves, to the music, to the performances, to being able to tell a story through movements, expressing feelings and emotions without words. Dance challenged me and taught me to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, building confidence, poise and strength.

So whenever I see my love for ballet merge with my love of fashion, I am instantly intrigued. My recent Valentine’s Day Date Night Look is the perfect example – the pink tulle skirt and black wrap sweater are reminiscent of those worn when I was young. And more new styles like this skirt and matching shell in beautiful pastels from the new J.Crew party dressing selection, this and this dress, and shoes like these lace-up and these ballet flats with elastic front cross straps (so similar to those I use to sew on my own ballet slippers), mean I’m not the only one in love with a little ballet inspiration for spring!
