Four Outfit Ideas For Thanksgiving Dinner

By the time Thanksgiving arrives, I’m always so ready to take a breather, spend time with loved ones, and reflect on the many things I’m grateful for. We’re California-bound for the holiday and can hardly wait to see our families, something that has grown extra special since we moved to Charleston and don’t see everyone as often as we used to. The older I get, the more the people in my life have become the greatest joy of the holidays–we could be eating takeout pizza for Thanksgiving dinner, and it would still be perfect, as long as we were together! Our Thanksgiving plans are on the casual side: dinner in a cozy barn setting followed by s’mores around the fireplace. I know it’ll be exactly the relaxing, low-key celebration we need before diving into the hustle and bustle of December. Whether your Thanksgiving plans involve a joyfully crowded table at a family member’s house, turkey for two at home, a non-traditional Friendsgiving feast, or a formal, multi-course dinner, here are a few outfit ideas to help you feel comfortable and festive in any setting.

Cozy Coat + White Jeans: I haven’t decided yet, but this casual, polished, and pretty outfit may be the most similar to what I’ll be wearing on Thanksgiving. White denim is crisp and a little unexpected for fall, while a cozy teddy coat, cashmere sweater and sneakers make the look seasonally appropriate. Add on a colorful silk scarf and swipe on bright lipstick to make this comfy outfit celebration-ready!

Corduroy Skirt + Sweater: The perfect combination when you want to dress up just a little bit, a sweater with a corduroy skirt creates a cozy, textured look that I love for fall. If you have the right pieces in your closet, consider opting for a monochromatic pairing–perhaps in blush, cream, burgundy, or evergreen. Wear this look with loafers, or, if you need to be a bit warmer, knee-high or over-the-knee boots.

Chic Tweed Set: For a completely effortless and chic outfit, pair one of our Gal Meets Glam Collection tweed dresses with its coordinating jacket. I especially love the burgundy and cream Nell set for Thanksgiving, but the Tinsley and Katherine tweeds would look just as lovely.

All Black Style: I’ve worn a few all-black outfits lately (like here and here), and it has reminded me how versatile this monochromatic look can be. If the dress code for the dinner you’re attending is a little more elevated, try an elegant black sweater and black pants paired with your favorite pair of shoes. The result looks sophisticated, but still relaxed and approachable.
