If you have dry hair like I do, then you probably try to avoid washing your hair everyday. But even if your hair is normal to oily, it doesn’t help to strip all the oils from the hair by over-washing. On the contrary, this actually encourages hair to produce even more oil to compensate for the loss! So what can you do to keep hair looking great in-between washes? One way is to try a dry shampoo like R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo spray or pasteAlterna Caviar Sheer Dry Shampoo powder, or Living Proof Perfect Day Dry Shampoo. All are color-free, light-weight and help oil build-up and odor control. The trick for getting the best results? Proper application and blending.

Tip 1 – Make sure to hold dry shampoo spray 5-6 inches from your roots.

Tip 2 – Apply spray, paste or powder to only the top 2-3 inches of hair, adding a little at a time. More can always be added later, but if you start with too much, you may wind-up with hair that looks flat and dirty, or too dry.

Tip 3 – Let the dry shampoo sit on hair for a minute or two to absorb excess oil.

Tip 4 – Blend dry shampoo in thoroughly by combing or brushing until no residue is showing.

Tip 5 – Remember that dry shampoo is not a permanent replacement for washing your hair, and needs to be washed out at least once a week so hair can breath!
