Makeup Tricks: Mascara

We all have our own particular way of applying makeup, am I right? Even when I get my own makeup professionally done, I still like to “tweak” the final results my way. I’m always learning new tips and tricks but I also have some I’ve been using for years that prove time and time again to work for me. So, I thought I would share a list of my favorite makeup tricks on GMG Now, starting with mascara. Mascara is my “thing”. If I was limited to taking one makeup product on a deserted island with me, it would be mascara. With that being said, I’m really picky on how I like my mascara and how it’s applied.

I first start with a “base layer”. This is a tube of mascara that has dried out just a little bit (usually a month or so old), so it doesn’t make my lashes “wet” or slide off like a new mascara would. I’ll apply one coat on my lashes. This creates a great base layer because it provides something for the new mascara to stick to. I then take a new(er) tube of mascara and apply one coat, making sure to start from the very bottom of my lash line and push slightly up with the wand. I then finish applying the rest of my makeup, letting that first coat dry. The last thing I do before I’m out the door is add one last coat of mascara to get that extra length and make my lashes pop.

Here is a list of my favorite mascaras: Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara, bareMinerals Lash Domination, Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara, Benefit Bad Gal Lash, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
