Last spring we posted this GMG Now Spring To-Do List, sharing ideas on ways to celebrate the start of the season. This year, we’re updating the list with more ways to enjoy springtime, including activities in and around our new hometown. Feel free to tweet or Snapchat me @GalMeetsGlam to let us know what you’re doing or to add to our list!

  1. Plant an edible and/or flower garden (for now, we’re settling on potted plants due to our temporary move, but next year we plan on fully embracing this idea!).
  2. Explore a local botanical garden to enjoy spring flowers in full bloom. In Charleston, The Garden Conservancy opens 16 gorgeous private gardens for self-guided tours for 2 weekends only: May 27th and June 3rd (by pre-purchased ticket only).
  3. Visit the azalea blooms and fun activities in Summerville, S.C., known as ‘Flowertown’.
  4. Plan a visit to a historical point of interest. We have so many to choose from in and around our new neighborhood and Charleston, and look forward to venturing out beyond the familiar to find even more historical sites.
  5. Set a date for a sunset picnic at the beach – check for nearby events by the water, including private boat tours and evening sails.
  6. Enjoy fresh seafood while watching the boat parade at the annual Blessing of the Fleet Festival in Mount Pleasant.
  7. Shop at a local Farmer’s Market for organic fruits, veggies, fresh flowers, local honey and other delicious goodies and crafts for the week ahead.
  8. Attend a professional (or collegiate) baseball, tennis or golfing event.
  9. Play tennis, golf or one of our other favorite outdoor sports. Spring brings ideal weather (not too hot or humid yet) as well as more daylight, allowing for more play time.
  10. Spend a day exploring wineries and distilleries in and around the Charleston area.
  11. Go berry picking (and make homemade jam afterwards).
  12. Fill a daypack full of goodies and go on a day hike and/or bike ride.
  13. Barbecue at home and eat outdoors.
  14. Take friends kayaking and/or paddle boarding.
  15. Clean-out closets, attics, storage units and other places where unwanted and used items tend to get buried and forgotten. Donate at a local charity, OR
  16. Sell items (even host a garage sale), and immediately donate any items not sold.
