Rainy Day Gear

We are finally getting much-needed rain in San Francisco and through-out Northern California. But neither sprinkles or rainy weather prevent me from venturing outside (as seen here and here). I just make sure to pull out my arsenal of rainy day gear – a classic trench coat or rain coat, rain boots, a dependable umbrella (this one is the best- I have it in black) and lightweight gloves (if needed) to stay warm. To keep my hair under control in unpredictable weather, I make sure my style is swept back in either a braid, half-up, half-down, high or low ponytail, topknot or tucked under a baseball cap.

And, though I enjoy a bit of rain every now and then, being caught in an unexpected downpour while traveling can be pretty miserable. I learned my lesson the hard way, and now make sure to pack a waterproof hooded jacket or packable raincoat and mini umbrella when going out-of-town so those unexpected showers don’t dampen my day. One of the best items I’ve purchased (and not just for rainy days) are my Hunter Boots. I have the Original Tall in black, but I also love the “Tour”, which is perfect for packing since they’re bendable for folding and lighter in weight than the Original. I wear them all the time and in a variety of weather conditions and landscapes- sand and beach, mud and rain or as just a great “outdoor” boot. A waterproof backpack is also perfect for carrying rainy day essentials, and is great because it leaves hands free to hold on to an umbrella. I personally love this pink one.
