Our trip to Peru was incredibly special and we had such a wonderful time traveling around. My older sister has been living in South America for the past six months, so my mom, Thomas and I met up with her in Lima to start our 8 day travels around Peru. I have so, so many photos to go through from this trip (the scenes are just breathtaking) but in the meantime, I have this short(er) post from Cusco!

We had been at Machu Picchu the days prior and took the Hiram Bingham train back to Cusco for the final days of our trip. By that point we were pretty adjusted to the elevation and the weather had warmed up, so we were out exploring the city all day in search of pretty textiles and alpaca knits to take home.

We started the morning walking to the San Pedro Market, which is the brightest and most colorful market I’ve ever seen filled with pretty much everything you can think of. We browsed through the rows of fresh fruit and flowers and looked through the pretty blankets and scarves before stopping by one of the many fresh fruit juice stands. You can spend a good hour or two just wandering through looking for unique gifts to take home for friends or family.

We packed lots of layers for Peru. We went from nice, warm weather in Lima to cold, brisk air at Lake Titicaca to an in between at Machu Picchu. I brought lots of cardigans and soft, cashmere sweaters to wear in the early morning or evening when the air is the coolest. This Equipment one is a mix of wool and cashmere and not your typical lightweight cardigan. It has some weight to it, which makes it a great in-between from a sweater to a coat. We all took our turns wearing it throughout the trip, it was a group favorite! (the upside of being the same size as my mom and sister, we all share clothes!)

As you probably saw on my instagram (here, here, here, here and here), I am in love with alpacas. They are even more adorable in the person and I couldn’t resist taking a photo with nearly every one I saw.

We stayed at the beautiful Belmond Palacio Nazarenas while in Cusco and had wonderful time on their gorgeous property, which is right next to the great shopping area of San Blas and a short walk to the central square. Stay tuned for more posts from our trip!
