I’ve been on a skincare kick lately. Trying out new products and researching a lot in order to achieve better skin. I’ve already covered Facial Cleansers and Face Masks. After all, the better your skin, the less makeup you’ll need which in turn should lead to even better skin. Today’s topic, Moisturizers. While it’s very clear what moisturizers are supposed to do, it’s much less obvious which products you should be using on your skin. Moist skin is essential for great skin. As we age, our skin starts to dry out and we lose elasticity, leading to wrinkles. Moisturizers can help counteract the effects the environment and aging has on us. Before I get into my favorite moisturizing products, it’s worth mentioning that addressing dry skin from the inside out with a good clean diet and proper hydration (drinking lots of water and reducing coffee, alcohol and soda intake) will work wonders for your skin.

As I sat down to write this GMG Now post, I was originally going to talk about moisturizers, night creams, face oils, essences and bb creams & tinted moisturizers. Holy cow, was that a lot to talk about. Seeing as moisturizing products are so key for great skincare, I decided to break the post up into multiple posts. This post will focus on my favorite Daily Moisturizers and Night Creams while another post will focus on Face Oils and Essences and a final post I’ll discuss Tinted Moisturizers and BB Creams.

Moisturizers

La Mer Soft Cream- This is one of my all-time favorite moisturizers. It’s not as thick as the Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream, which I prefer, but it still feels just as luxurious. I’ll use this one more sparingly (since it’s pricey) when my skin is feeling really dry or I’ve spent a little too much time in the sun. It makes my skin feel so velvety soft, it’s as if I’ve spent the day at a spa.

First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Face Cream– I’ve been a fan of First Aid Beauty after testing it out several years ago. A handful of their products remain in my skincare routine, including this face cream. I love this one in particular because it has all of my daily needs- moisture, a good 30 SPF and anti aging properties. If you’re skin is extra sensitive, this one is perfect because it’s fragrance free and also free of parabens, sulphates and phthalates.

Caudalie Vinosource Intense Moisture Rescue Cream– I usually bring this one with me while traveling, especially because the tube is smaller and easy to pack. Caudalie products are amazing and always give me wonderful results. You’ll get a good, deep hydration from this that will make even the longest flights or the hottest days seem like nothing.

Caudalie Vinosource Thirst Quenching Serum– This moisturizing serum is usually what I like to use as a great base layer before applying my moisturizer. Who knew you needed a moisturizer before your other moisturizer? Honestly though, it’s worth it, especially when we’re most likely not drinking enough water, spending too much time in the sun, putting on makeup that dries out our skin or just exposed to everyday toxins. This one has a ton of Caudalie’s grape seed water in it, which they’re kinda known for, and is also one of my favorite ways to hydrate my skin during the day.

Night Creams– If you don’t use one already, adding a night cream to your routine a few nights a week can work wonders. Night creams are heavier than daytime creams and they are packed with more nutrients. We don’t wear makeup at night so we can get away with a heavier cream.

Korres Wild Rose Brightening Sleeping Facial- The only night cream I consistently use. Described as part night cream, part mask, this product works wonders at night. I’m always amazed to wake up after a full night’s sleep and still have that dewy skin look. I’ve said it before, but Korres products are the best smelling around!
